Building the London Markaz

There is a good article in the Daily Telegraph by Philip Johnson about the London Markaz. The fact that its backers are dubious should be ample reason to turn it down, never mind the fact that it doesn't sit easily with the spirit of the 2012 Games.

Of course the Markaz will go up, because the British authorities just can't say no. In fact, their relationship with Muslim leaders resembles that of over indulent parents, terrified of alienating their spoilt children. Only yesterday, it was reported in the Times that British Police are to consult Muslim leaders before carrying out terror raids. Will that also mean seeking their blessing? Nothing surprises me anymore.
